Fall Dates in Indianapolis 2021

  • by

I’ve been waiting all year for this, fall is my favorite season. I’ve been compiling my list of fall dates in Indianapolis for months. Give me autumn leaves, big sweaters, and cozy drinks. My birthday is also in the fall (mid November, start planning now) so that also contributes to my love of the season. Lets get lost wandering through a corn maze together at a local orchard while sipping fresh cider (none of that grocery store nonsense, I’m a bit of a cider snob). Or let’s go on a local spooky walking tour (see below!) and learn about the ghosts that also call Indy home.

Penrod Arts Fair – Saturday, September 11th

Penrod is one of the nation’s largest art fairs with over 300 artists and four different stages for live entertainment from local music groups and organizations.

City Market Catacombs September – October

Did you know there are catacombs under the City Market? Can you believe I still haven’t been? I included these in my spring dates blog and I’m still looking for that special someone to venture into the depths with me.

Unseen Press September – November

Unseen press hosts a variety of local haunted walking tours in the Indy area. From the Underground Railroad in Westfield to gangster and brothels downtown, there’s lots to see.

Heartland Film Festival – October 7-17th

I haven’t been to a movie theater since February 2020 and I can’t think of a better way to go back to the theater than Heartland.

Harvest at Newfields – October 2-31st

Harvest has everything I love about fall: good aesthetics, good drinks, and just a bit of a spooky vibe.

Slippery Noodle Inn

In the heart of downtown Indy, the Slippery Noodle is the oldest continuously running bar in the state. Open since 1850, it has a long history including being part of the Underground Railroad, distilling liquor during prohibition, running a brothel into the 1950’s, and yes, having a few ghosts. These days, it’s a blues venue but apparently the ladies who used to work in the building still roam upstairs.

Indiana Medical History Museum

I already mentioned this museum once on the blog but I thought it bore repeating for the spooky season. The IMHM is housed in the old Central State Hospital, a mental asylum that was open from 1848 to 1994. Before the rest of the hospital was turned into apartments, it was a favorite spot for paranormal investigators.

Museum Dates in Indianapolis

  • by

I love museums and Indianapolis has so many to choose from. I’ve missed going to them this past year and am manifesting filling my calendar with museum dates this next year. Here’s a round up of some I’ve been wanting to visit as well as some other Indianapolis staples.

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not just for kids. They host regular “After Dark” events just for adults. They seem to be on hold at the moment due to Covid but in the “before times,” it was one of my favorite date night activities.

Indiana Medical History Museum

Looking for something a little macabre? Do things like skeletons and preserved organs not make you queasy? This might be for you.The museum is in the oldest pathology building in the nation and the tour includes a teaching amphitheater, laboratories, an autopsy room and much more. I think medical history is fascinating but if you have a weak stomach, you may want to skip it.

James Whitcomb Riley Home

Home of the poet and philanthropist James Whitcomb Riley. Ever heard of Orphan Annie or the musical Annie? Based on a poem of his. Riley Children’s Hospital? Same guy.

Rhythm! Discovery Center

I’m a big music nerd and I’ve been dying to visit since I learned about this place last year. It’s an interactive museum and the world’s only interactive drum and percussion museum.

Kurt Vonnegut Library

Vonnegut was a native Hoosier and the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library showcases his “literary, artistic, and cultural” contributions. His books are on my reading list for this summer so a date here would have perfect timing.

Other Museums

Newfields

Hosts Indianapolis Museum of Art as well as vast walking gardens.

Indiana History Museum

The Indiana History Museum is unique in that it showcases the history of the earth, but only the section of earth that makes up Indiana.

Eiteljorg Museum

The Eiteljorg Museum hosts the largest collection of western and Native American art east of the Mississippi River.

Indiana Historical Society

Hosts exhibitions focusing on Indiana History

Conner Prairie

A living history museum focusing on early American life

Summer Dates in Indianapolis 2021

  • by

I may be showing my youth here, but does this time of year make anyone else think of the beginning of Highschool Musical 2 with everyone whispering “summer…summer…summer.” Just me? Okay. Anyways, summer is here and I’m planning on spending as much of it as I can poolside in a bikini with a cold drink in hand (frozen margarita anyone?). Not your style? Here are a couple of ideas for activities we can do together this summer.

Symphony on the Prairie (June – Sept)

I love a good picnic and I love the symphony and this is the best of both worlds. Let’s cuddle on a blanket, sipping wine and enjoying the music together.

Van Gogh Lume (July)

This traveling exhibition is coming to the Indianapolis Museum of Art in July and you better believe I’m going to be buying tickets as soon as they go on sale. The question is, who’s coming with me?

Indiana State Fair (August)

I try to go to the Indiana State Fair at least once a summer if not more. I love the food, the art, the food, people watching, food, you get the idea. I highly recommend Ben’s soft pretzels (yes the line is worth it) and the fresh salt water taffy.

Amusement Parks

I’ll admit, I’m a bit of an adrenaline junkie. The first time I rode a roller coaster, I was hooked. There are a host of parks within a few hours drive of Indy and I’m always down to hop on a plane to go down to Orlando or LA to one of the bigger parks (Disney or Universal anyone?).

None of these spark your fancy? Check out my post on spring date ideas as most of those carry over to summer as well.

My Collection of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

  • by

I’ve collected copies of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for nine years. I was going through a phase of reading a lot of classic literature (Pride and Prejudice, A Tale of Two Cities, The Great Gatsby, etc.) and Alice stood out to me. I revisited her often; rereading excerpts, watching different adaptations, reading background information on Lewis Carrol and the creation of the story. I loved the whimsy and how the story was absurd for the sake of being absurd.

I’m not as captivated by her as I once was, but I still do one thing to keep her in my life. Over the years, I’ve collected about 15 volumes of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland or related material. It ranges from vintage children’s editions to Barnes and Nobel releases to collectors pieces. Most of them I’ve acquired used but a few have been gifts. I love each of them for different reasons but if I had to narrow down my favorites, it’d be these three.

Barnes and Nobel Classics, 2005

Like most of my copies, this one came from a used bookstore. It’s the first one I bought and it’s the copy that introduced me to Wonderland. I adore the cover art by Milo Winter and would happily add a print of it to my Alice art collection.

Grosset and Dunlap, around 1970

While this copy is used (and worn), I didn’t acquire it from a store. I stumbled upon it while digging through a box in my parent’s garage. In the inside cover is my aunt’s 10-year-old handwriting scrawling her childhood address and the year. Being a family heirloom, it can’t help but be one of my favorites.

Hodder and Stoughton, 1982
Illustrations by Gwynedd M. Hudson

This one was another used bookstore find and it was my first true collectors piece. I found it in a little shop in Nashville, Indiana. The store had recently attained some rare copies from a collectors estate. Being a poor student at the time, this was the only one I could afford. It’s bound in genuine leather and I rarely take it out of the protective paper wrapping it. While it isn’t the most expensive in my collection now, it’s one of the ones most valuable to me.

It may look like a copy of Alice in Wonderland
But that’s not Alice…
There she is!

Last but not least, a little bonus. I found this one, you guessed it, at a used bookstore. It was made by a company called “The Bookbox Company” but it seems that they’re no longer in business and their website is down. I love hidey holes and secret compartments so I jumped for joy when I found this.

Spring Dates in Indianapolis 2021

Indianapolis Independent GFE Escort, Spring date ideas in Indianapolis, Spring date ideas Indianapolis

It’s official, I have spring fever. I’m done trekking through snow and defrosting my car ignition with a hair dryer (true story) and I’m ready for warmer days. After being cooped up inside during this cold Indianapolis winter, I can’t wait to go on some spring dates in Indianapolis together. You bring your charming self and I’ll wear a short, flirty sundress.

Garfield park – Downtown

Number one on the greenhouse tour is Garfield Park. Located south of downtown, the park hosts an indoor conservatory, sunken garden, and arts center hosting regular exhibitions by local artists.

White River Gardens – Downtown

White River Gardens is part of the Indianapolis Zoo. It spans 3.3 acres of both indoor and outdoor gardens as well as a butterfly garden. Admission to the gardens also includes the zoo if you want to see the animals or go to the aquarium and pet the sharks (my favorite).

White River State Park and Canal Walk – Downtown

This is one of my favorite spots to walk downtown in the warmer months. It’s a perfect place to stroll hand in hand, have a picnic, fly a kite, or play Pokemon Go. Afterwards, we can walk to one of Indy’s many downtown eateries or slip back to somewhere a little more private.

Newfields

I love art museums, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art is no exception. Let me show you my favorite Renoir or we can walk through the art and nature preserve or the flower garden.

Catacomb Tours – Downtown

Did you know that there are catacombs under the city market? Tours are held twice a month in the spooky underground cavern. I’ve been dying to go for years and have yet to find someone to indulge me.

My Favorite Indianapolis Brunch Spots

Indianapolis Independent GFE Escort,

I am not a morning person, I will do almost anything to stay in bed just five more minutes. What can I say, a girl needs her beauty rest. I also love breakfast, my love of breakfast food rivals my love of a warm bed. I will drag myself out of bed with the promise of French toast and mimosas. I love everything about it. I love that it’s an excuse to basically eat dessert first thing in the morning. I love that it has made starting my day with champagne acceptable. And if I’m craving something more savory? What’s better than eggs covered in cheese and hot sauce. Breakfast is truly the best meal of the day.

Indianapolis is not lacking in the brunch department and this is something to celebrate. From high end dining to your classic diner, Indy has it all. I want to highlight just a few of my favorite brunch spots as well as list a couple that I have yet to try. Who knows, it might become our new favorite.

Milktooth – Fletcher place

Milktooth is located in the downtown neighborhood of Fletcher Place. The building used to be an old car dealership but now hosts one of Indianapolis’ fine diners. Their menu is focused on “utilizing the beautiful produce and agriculture of Indiana to serve world inspired breakfast and lunch fare.” It was chosen as one of the 10 best new restaurants by Bon Appetite in 2015. Along with their breakfast specials, you can find craft cocktails and coffee in this unique, cozy space.

Ruth’s Cafe – Keystone at the Crossing

Ruth’s is a place you want to visit for the decor alone. The walls are covered in kitchy signs and mugs and the tables and chairs are all hand decorated with modge podged pop culture clippings. The atmosphere is fun. They have all of the expected breakfast staples and they do them well.

Lincoln Square – Local Chain

If you’re looking for a classic diner, this is it. It’s a local chain with nine locations throughout Indiana. You’re not going to find fancy coffee or mimosas, but this place is still special and I go often. I recommend the donut biscuits with apple butter or the healthy waffle (it’s not that healthy).

Cafe Patachou – Local Chain

Cafe Patachou is another local chain that does breakfast food well. They have five locations throughout the Indianapolis area. Their menu is full of gluten free and vegan options for the food sensitive people in your life as well as coffees and cocktails for a perfect way to start your day.

3 Sisters Café – Broad Ripple

3 Sisters is located in an old house in the heart of Broad Ripple Village. It’s most notable claim to fame was it’s appearance on the Food Network program Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. That’s right, this place is Guy Fieri approved. I recommend getting a table on the front porch if you can. Sunlight pairs perfectly with their signature lemon corn cakes.

Biscuits Café – Broad Ripple

Biscuits is another Broad Ripple staple and for good reason. Where else serves Mexican and breakfast food? Can’t choose between tacos or french toast? Here, you don’t have to. Personally, I love a place with versatility. Biscuits knows what they’re about and they stick to it.

Good Morning Mama’s Café – SoBro

Located in south Broad Ripple, Good Morning Mama’s is a 60s themed cafe. The building used to be an old filling station and was bought by the owners of Mama Carolla’s (another Indianapolis staple) and was converted into the well loved cafe it is today. I have yet to visit but it’s high on my list of brunch spots to try.

Yolk – Downtown and the Ironworks

Yolk is another spot on my to-try list. It started in the south loop of Chicago and has since expanded and has three Indianapolis locations. They specialize in upscale breakfast with specialty juices and coffees. The menu is classic breakfast fare but that’s more than enough to get me in the door. Located conveniently by the Ironworks Hotel, it’s a perfect place for a post rendezvous meal.

Rize – Ironworks and Fishers

Lastly on my list of places to try is Rize. Rize’s menu is simple and fresh, two things I can appreciate. One of the things I love about breakfast food is how indulgent it can be but sometimes it’s nice to have something lighter. And after a night of indulgence together, sometimes it doesn’t need to continue into the morning. But don’t worry, they still have some classic breakfast foods like waffles and Benedicts if you need your fix.

An Escort’s Guide to Indianapolis

  • by

Welcome to my little corner of the internet, my name is Kate. I’m a native Hoosier and I’ve been in the adult industry for almost four years. I’ve dipped my toes in a couple areas of the industry, but companionship is where I’ve found my home. I started on Chaturbate camming in the spring of 2017, which I did on and off for two years. I then moved to the world of sugar dating and professional cuddling. I enjoyed getting to spend time face to face with my clients and make genuine connections. Fall of 2019, I made the plunge into paid companionship and I haven’t looked back. I love my job. I learn something new from each person I meet. I also have the privilege of them exposing me to new experiences. The first time I went to a comedy club was on a paid date. Was it something I would have done on my own? Probably not. But because of that client, I got to try something new.

As someone who goes on dates for a living, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of date ideas involving my city. I love this city and I love being able to call it home. I hope to highlight some of the best things Indianapolis has to offer. Indy is a growing cultural hub, bursting with things to do. We have museums, live music, great dining, and so much more. I’ve only been able to scratch the surface myself. I’m a person who feels equally at home shooting pool in a dive bar pool as I do at an opera or the symphony. From fine arts to hole in the wall treasures, I hope to explore it all. Won’t you join me?

I also hope to have some of my friends in the industry as guest bloggers to share what they love about the places they call home. Who else besides the ladies who date professionally are the experts on the best date spots? I want this to be a place for anyone to get ideas for activities, not just people who see me in my city. If you are a companion who wants to start their own blog for date ideas or a lover who wants to use things from my blog for another lady, you have my full permission. No ideas under the sun are new. I want this to be a resource for anyone and everyone. One of the things I love about this industry is the community I’ve found in it. If I can contribute in any way, I’m happy to do so.

A note, I am starting this blog in a time when Covid is still a concern, so not all the places I include may be open to the public and may be aspirational. I’m someone who is careful and avoids indoor dining and experiences that involve being inside with large amounts of people for extended periods of time. I’m also hopeful for a future where these things are possible again, so that won’t deter me from including such experiences.
